The Parent’s Portal as an employee benefit

The Parents Portal is an employee benefit to businesses and organisations that want to support working parents of autistic and neurodivergent children.

Early Autism Support (AES) are a children’s charity, providing specialist education and support to children with social, interaction and communication differences. Underpinning our core purpose is the belief that for children to achieve the best outcomes, they must have as much appropriate support around them as possible. They have always therefore invested in the provision of knowledge, strategies, guidance and peer support for parents.

The Parent’s Portal allows you to enhance your inclusive workplace culture and any employee benefits you already have in place.
By passing on their expertise and guidance, parents learn strategies to support both family and themselves and balancing work & home life becomes so much more possible.

Insight into working parents

A huge percentage of the workforce have dependent children:

  • 92% of today’s employed fathers and 75% of employed mothers have dependent children
  • 2025 City & Guilds survey found that approx. 50% of neurodivergent professionals had children with or awaiting at least one neurodivergent diagnosis.

In the UK today, the system to support children and young people with special educational needs is in crisis.

Ambitious About Autism research surveyed 900 parents of autistic children and found that:

  • 30% had given up their jobs because of their child’s school exclusions
  • 29% of this group said they had missed days from work
  • 20% reduced from full to part time work
  • 90% of parents experienced sleep loss due to the stress of not being able to find suitable education

Too many families are struggling to get the help their children desperately need and there is a real risk of the UK having a generation of children who will leave school without ever having received the help they need. (Findings of Support for children and young peoples with special educational needs, Public Accounts Committee, January 2025)
